Switzerland, here we come.

My husband Terry turns 75 later this year, but soon after his 74th birthday he announced that all of  2018 would count as birthday and that the biggest celebration would be a trip in, around, over and through the Swiss alps by train.  We leave in about a week.   I will occasionally post highlights of the trip from the vantage point of four adults, age 70+, finding their way from village to village, mountain to mountain.

Terry started packing 2 weeks ago. Still adding and removing items as he aims to carry everything he will need for 17 days in something the size of a small satchel. I started yesterday:

We are looking at temperatures in the high 70's to low 40's,
hiking in the mountains, strolling the streets, and the occasional nice restarant

I think I may be in trouble since a number of items have yet to be retrieved
from the wash and my shoes aren't in there yet.
We will see how this goes.

  2. Wow! It will be beautiful!
Yes ... the packing challenge: the cool days and occasional dressy times, a few light weight scarves will come in handy. Have a wonderful adventure!

  3. Happy birthday Terry. Ohhhhhhhh so much fun! I rely heavily on a good size backpack on trips like this. That, along with a fabric bag that slings across body should get it done. At my age ,75, I rely on all sorts of lotions and potions....leave them at home.the adventure of travel will put that shine on your face.

  4. I think you have a handle on all of this. Just remember to wash out things nightly and you should do fine. What a fun way to see Switzerland by train.

  5. Happy birthday Terry! Sounds like a wonderful trip and a real challenge. I find a good size backpack is indespensible. At the age of 75 I'm relying on more lotions and potions, on a trip like this just know that the adventure and excitement will put a shine in your eyes and a glow on your cheeks, so you can leave lotions and potions at home.
